About Us
Poor Clare Missionary Sisters

Our Founder
Blessed Mother Inés Teresa Arias was drawn, out of love for God, to become a nun in 1929. Her life of deep contemplation and prayer led her to found a new missionary order, which today serves communities across the world. She was declared Blessed by Pope Benedict XVI in 2011. Her legacy continues to inspire generations of sisters and laypeople to live lives of joyful service, humility, and faith.

Our History
The Poor Clare Missionary Sisters were approved by the Holy See on June 22, 1951 officially recognizing their mission to live out the Inesian charism through service to the poor, education, and evangelization. Since then, they have grown into an international congregation, dedicating their lives to prayer, community, and works of mercy in various parts of the world.

Our Mission
As members of the Inesian Family, the Poor Clare Sisters live out the Spirituality of Missionary, Priestly, Marian, Eucharist, and Joy. The smile is and must be in all the Poor Clare Missionary Sisters their characteristic, because that smile implies a loving YES to the Will of God, joy that springs from a grateful heart and in love with God for the precious calling and gift of our religious vocation, joy of knowing that one is called and loved by God.
Santa Clara Day Nursery

Located in Santa Ana, CA. Santa Clara opened its doors in the year of 1965, to fulfill the desire of Blessed Mother Maria Ines Teresa Arias (foundress of the Poor Clare Missionary Sisters, who served at Santa Clara), to provide to the Californian families a safe environment to take care of their children. Licensed by the California Department of Social Services since February 10th, 1994 we are looking to help our local community by providing a center dedicated to promote a nourishing, safe, educational, and faith-based environment for preschool age children (2-5 years old).
